Are We Entering a Golden Age of Gas?

London, 6 June 2011

World Energy Outlook 2011 Special Report - “Are We Entering a Golden Age of Gas?”, is now available. This special International Energy Agency report examines the key factors that could secure a more prominent role for natural gas in the global energy mix, and the implications for other fuels and climate change. It features a high-gas scenario that investigates how natural gas supply and demand could respond to new impetus stemming from both market forces and government policies.

The report is downloadable, free of charge, from the IEA website:

“We have seen remarkable developments in natural gas markets in recent months. There is a strong potential for gas to take on a larger role, but also for the global gas market to become more diversified and therefore improve energy security,” says IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka.

Key findings from the special report will be included in the World Energy Outlook 2011, which will be released 9 November 2011.
