London, April 2011
Platts have released a special report, “Japan: Coming to Terms with the Power Crisis,” which draws on reports by dozens of Platts journalists across the globe, including their reporters in Tokyo.
The report looks at the impact of the catastrophic 9.0-magnitude earthquake and resultant tsunami which hit northeast Japan on March 11, including an assessment of developments through April 7th. Some 31,800 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity have been affected and Japan’s nuclear expansion program – which envisages fourteen new reactors entering service by 2030 – is in tatters.
