A new monthly volume record was registered for the month of September 2011 on the Gas spot segment of Powernext Gas with 3 466 400 MWh traded, compared to 1 290 750 MWh reached in September 2010. The last monthly volume record amounted to 2 969 150 MWh in August 2011.
"These excellent results on Powernext Gas Spot can be explained by the growing trust of the actors in the market depth. This increased liquidity is mainly generated by industrials asking their suppliers contracts indexed on the PEG prices. Moreover, the strong spot price volatility as well as its correlation to other European hubs prompts the market actors to adjust their positions," comments Richard Katz, Sales & Communications Director of Powernext SA.
