Eagle Ford shale oil production doubles

New York, 27 July 2011: Reuters

Energy consultancy Bentek said on Wednesday oil production in the Eagle Ford shale prospect of south Texas has grown to an estimated 160,000 barrels per day, up from 71,000 bpd two months ago.

Bentek's estimates are based on number of wells drilled in the shale prospect as well as historical results from past wells. The estimates also account for delays in completion of wells and other constraints on operations.

The company previously estimated production will leap five-fold by 2015.
