ENDEX has successfully introduced the new Dutch Power Peak Load (8-20) product. The new Peak Load (8-20) contracts have replaced the old 16 hrs Peak Load contracts (7-23) on the ENDEX Futures Exchange. The first transaction, a Jun-09 contract between Atel Trading and Electrabel SA, was concluded at 08:31 (CET) this morning.
The new Peak Load definition consists of 12 hours per weekday including public holidays, whereas the old 16 hrs Peak Load consists of 16 hours per weekday excluding public holidays. With this initiative ENDEX brings the Dutch Peak Load definition in line with the Peak Load definitions in other European countries. The 16 hrs Peak Load contracts remain available for OTC clearing until December 2013.
Bert den Ouden, CEO of APX Group, says: "I am confident that this new product will further boost liquidity on the Dutch Power market and contribute to the integration of the European energy market."
