E.ON has been included in the new Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI). The index is published by the Carbon Disclosure Project, an organisation representing 534 global institutional investors. It assesses the information provided by the 500 largest global companies about their efforts to reduce carbon emissions. 48 of these companies have been included in the index.
The CPLI offers important guidance to institutional investors and gives valuable insights into the strategies employed by the largest international enterprises in tackling climate change and reducing their carbon emissions, and into the opportunities afforded by climate change. The number of participating companies, which is growing year on year, also shows that company strategies to reduce greenhouse emissions are becoming increasingly important for investors.E.ON board member Klaus-Dieter Maubach: "This listing in the new Carbon Performance Leadership Index illustrates the extent to which E.ON is putting climate protection at the centre of its business activities. It is further proof that our wide energy mix, which is aimed at reducing carbon emissions and conserving resources, has put us on the right track."
Corporate responsibility is an integral part of E.ON’s values and strategy. E.ON aims to occupy a leading position in the industry, especially in the field of climate protection. As part of this goal, E.ON is looking to halve its specific carbon emissions by 2030 compared with 1990 levels. To this end, E.ON will invest EUR 8 billion in renewable energies by 2011 alone.
