S&P GSCI gains 11.56% Q1

London, 2 April 2011

Led by energy, the S&P GSCI® increased 4.35% in March, gaining 11.56% for Q1 2011.  Energy took center stage in Q1, as accelerating political unrest in the Middle East and North Africa ( MENA), notably in Libya, contributed to the increase in petroleum prices and reminded investors of the importance of petroleum to the global economy.
