What was all the fuss about? As the year end approaches, the headline numbers suggest the world has returned to a Goldilocks economy: neither too hot nor too cold. Consensus forecasts for this year's growth in world output is a very comfortable 3.9 per cent. The US will have grown 2.8 per cent. Europe and the UK, at 1.7 per cent, are a bit slow, but look alright in the circumstances.
