London, 9 December 2010
Bloomsbury Minerals Economics Limited (BME), in conjunction with Seldon Holdings Inc (SHI) and Robert Goldstein, has made a strategic investment in London based Roskill Information Services Limited (Roskill).
Mark Seddon has been appointed as Managing Director of Roskill, replacing the retiring Managing Director, Judith Chegwidden who will continue as a Director and will focus on Roskill's consulting activity. Mark was previously head of the company's Minor & Light Metals Division. Judith has been at Roskill for forty years, and has been its MD for ten. Neil Seldon of Vancouver has been appointed Chairman and represents SHI. Robert Goldstein has been appointed a Director, representing BME on the Board.Roskill has wide coverage of over fifty minerals and metals in three main areas -- minor metals (including the very topical rare earths) and light metals; iron ore and steel alloys; finally industrial minerals. Such coverage includes reports on a regular basis as well as providing consultancy expertise over this range of metals and minerals covering market assessments, feasibility studies, industry analysis, acquisition studies, strategic planning, competitive evaluation studies and commercial intelligence. Full details of the activity of Roskill can be found on their website www.roskill.com
BME looks forward to co-operating with Roskill in areas of common interest such as Roskill's coverage of three important co-products of copper: molybdenum, cobalt and nickel, which should be of particular interest to BME's copper customers. BME's expertise in mathematical price modelling will potentially allow a new dimension to be added to Roskill's research on aluminium, nickel, cobalt and molybdenum.
Neil Seldon and Robert Goldstein are also Directors of BME. BME's other Directors are Peter Hollands (the company's founder) and Michael Barden - recent founder of Insight Analysis and Consulting (and former Chief Executive Officer of CRU).
BME already has close links to UK-based zinc and lead experts (and macro economists) Claire Hassall and Huw Roberts of CHR Metals Limited and Commodities Risk Management Associates (CRMA) - David Waite and Nick Sarro-Waite in the USA, strategy consultants JPC Consulting (Jean-Pierre Castel) in Paris, and independent analyst Ted Arnold in London, through the Metallicarum International alliance. Also in Metallicarum are concentrates marketing consultants in Vancouver, Toronto, Santiago and Frankfurt (Neil Seldon, Gordon McKnight, Scott Roos, Marcos Warner and Wolfgang Treder).
BME is also advancing its own research programme very actively. It has recently re-launched an expanded and improved Quarterly Report on Copper (the Editor being leading copper consumption expert Paul Dewison) and it produces leading-edge Price Models on Copper, Nickel and Aluminium (Peter Hollands, Adam Sotowicz and Mire Zloh). These models are unique in their ability to explore the interaction between physical production and consumption, looming investment demand for physical stocks from ETFs (very topical right now!), and investment demand for futures (from index funds especially), as joint price drivers for base metals.
