Thursday 16.35 BST: US stocks turned negative as a deteriorating outlook for the US economy continued to dent risk appetite, hitting global equity markets. The S&P 500 was down 0.2 per cent - its lowest level for more than six weeks - having closed 2.3 per cent lower on Wednesday when financials suffered their biggest one-day fall in 10 months.
