The launch of a new website should provide vendors with streamlined access to information about purchase programs of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Commodity Procurement Division.
The website, www.ams.usda.gov/CommodityPurchasing combines the Web locations of the Agricultural Marketing Service’s purchase programs for fruit and vegetables, livestock and seed, and poultry.
AMS combined its procurement for those three branches earlier this year and the new website provides a standardized, integrated platform.
“Before the consolidation of commodity procurement operations, visitors to our website had to navigate three separate portals to get information on all of our purchase requirements,” says AMS administrator Rayne Pegg.
“This new, simplified site gives customers the ability to respond more quickly to our purchase requests.”
Features on the combined site include procedures for vendors who want to participate in purchase programs, access to the Web-based supply chain management system, and news about the commodity procurement division.
