CPM Group is pleased to announce that Christopher G. Tors has joined CPM Group in the capacity of Managing Director of Asset Management and Commodity Management. In this capacity Mr. Tors will work closely with CPM Group’s Managing Director, Jeffrey M. Christian, and Carlos Sanchez, Director of Asset and Commodity Management, in the development and launch of the CPM Fund, and in programs related to commodities management for clients, including hedging strategies and management, as well as asset management.
Mr. Tors most recently has been the President of Sasqua Group Inc., a retained executive search firm specializing in the recruitment of Capital Markets professionals in Trading, Sales, Derivatives and Risk Management. Prior to Sasqua Group, Mr. Tors held senior management positions at UBS, and AIG in commodities and foreign exchange trading, derivatives, and sales.
Mr. Tors, during his 15-year tenure at J.Aron and Co. (subsequently the Commodities Division of Goldman Sachs) and Mr. Christian worked together for many years at those two eminent firms. Mr. Christian’s research operation, which was the basis of CPM Group, provided research support to Mr. Tors’ work on the commercial desk at J. Aron and Goldman, where he was responsible for some of the largest and most innovative gold, silver, and platinum group metals commercial transactions perhaps ever undertaken.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Chris again,” Mr. Christian said. “The two of us have appreciated the intricacies of the commodities markets over the past 30-plus years. We have had a glorious and fun past being involved in some of the seminal precious metals transactions of the 1980s. I look forward to doing it again with him. The fact that CPM Group analysts, advisors, and investment bankers are experienced in the financial aspects of commodities markets provides the company with insights simply not available to outside analysts.”
CPM Group is an independent commodities research, consulting company, and investment banking company headquartered in New York. The company is considered the foremost authority on markets for precious metals, and provides detailed and highly regarded research on specialty and base metals, energy, and agricultural markets. CPM Group also provides advisory services relating to commodity risk management and asset management. CPM Group began in the early 1970s as the Research Department of J. Aron and Company, one of the world’s largest and most successful commodities trading companies. In 1986 CPM Group spun off from Goldman Sachs, which had acquired J. Aron in 1981, to set up as an independent firm that provides a range of consulting and research services to companies, investors, governments, and other entities that have a financial exposure to commodities.
