Per-Otto Wold to head Thomson Reuters global commodities growth strategy

London, 1 July 2010

Per-Otto Wold, CEO and co-founder of Point Carbon, the leading provider of essential trading analytics, news and content for the energy and environmental markets, recently acquired by Thomson Reuters, has taken on a new role as Global Head of Growth Initiatives, reporting to Shaun Sibley, Global Head of Commodities & Energy, Thomson Reuters.

Having built Point Carbon from a start-up with four employees to a successful company of almost 200, Per-Otto Wold will once again focus his entrepreneurial skills on developing innovative initiatives into growing businesses; this time to drive forward the shared vision for the Thomson Reuters commodities division.

Per-Otto Wold will continue to participate and support the development of the global carbon markets but will in addition focus on opportunities created through growth initiatives across commodities markets and those created through regulatory changes. Commenting on his new role within Thomson Reuters, Per Otto, who will continue to be based in Oslo, Norway, said "The integration of the Point Carbon business into Thomson Reuters is proceeding exceptionally well and I am excited about having the opportunity to help Thomson Reuters take the commodities business to a whole new level with a number of select growth initiatives".

Shaun Sibley, Global Head of Commodities & Energy, Thomson Reuters, said, "Per-Otto has a fantastic track record of turning ideas into customer value. We are thrilled that Per-Otto will apply his expertise to some of our business’ key growth initiatives.”

Point Carbon provides banks, traders, portfolio managers, corporations and governments with critical insights based on deep industry knowledge and sophisticated modelling capabilities across the energy markets. Point Carbon’s valuable demand, supply and price predictive models are based on proprietary data collection and are used by thousands of traders and analysts globally.

As global economic development continues to boost energy needs in a carbon constrained world, the combination of Thomson Reuters and Point Carbon will deliver the critical information and tools to allow market participants to optimise their business, investment and trading strategies in this evolving marketplace.
