Singapore Exchange ( SGX) announced today that MF Global Singapore has become a Trading Member of the SGX securities market. MF Global is currently a Trading and Clearing Member of the SGX derivatives market. “We welcome MF Global to our securities market and are pleased that MF Global has extended its distribution to encompass both Singapore securities and derivatives business. We look forward to MF Global reaching out to new investor segments,” said Mr. Gan Seow Ann, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Markets at SGX.

“My team and I welcome the opportunity for MF Global, a long-standing member of SGX in the listed derivatives segment, to be admitted as a member of the securities segment as well,” said Mr. Laurence O’Connell, managing director, Asia-Pacific for MF Global. “With this membership, we shall be strongly positioned to provide our clients with access across a broader range of asset classes including derivatives, commodities and equities – a key area of expansion for the firm in the Asia-Pacific theatre.”

Following MF Global’s admission, the SGX securities market has 26 Trading Members and 26 Clearing Members while the SGX derivatives market has 30 Trading Members and 25 Clearing Members.
