Trayport Limited, a leading provider of multi-asset class electronic trading solutions, today announced that its Trading Gateway system will be the first software product in the US to provide access to all of the world’s carbon markets. It is catering to an increasing demand among US traders looking to trade carbon emissions (CO2).
Trading Gateway is Trayport’s flagship carbon and energy electronic trading system and allows carbon traders to view and trade market data from the global carbon emissions exchanges on a single user interface.
Jubin Pejman, US Senior Vice President at Trayport (www.trayport.com) said, “The carbon market in the US is set to grow exponentially after legislation is passed on emissions reductions later this year. Trayport’s Trading Gateway will therefore be the first product in the US to assist traders looking to expand their CO2 trading operations. With Trading Gateway, those trading emissions are in a strong position to access liquidity from different carbon markets worldwide.”
“Through Trading Gateway you can view and execute Cleared, OTC or OTC Cleared emissions contracts in the most liquid CO2 markets on a single trading screen. Similar contracts are stacked so that the best available price is always at the top for ease of use,” added Pejman.
Trayport provides unique consolidated trading access to all major inter-dealer brokers and exchanges in the emissions market. It is already successfully used in Europe where 85% of all carbon assets are traded on Trading Gateway.
Trayport's Trading Gateway platform provides unique access to carbon exchanges including BlueNext and Bayerische Boerse’s Greenmarket which operate on another of Trayport’s products, its Exchange Trading System. Additional markets accessible from Trading Gateway also include EEX, NordPool ASA and ECX as well as the OTC markets offered by six Interdealer Brokers. In all, 50 global markets and 3000 asset classes are available through Trading Gateway. Asset classes that can be traded include carbon spots, futures, options and forwards. The Trading Gateway platform also allows cross commodity spreads such as CER / EUA ( Certified Emission Reductions / European Union Allowances) to be viewed and traded quickly and simply, ensuring efficient trading and fewer missed revenue generating opportunities.
