Nord Pool ASA and NASDAQ OMX announced today the launch of its proximity service. The service allows members of Nord Pool to place their trading equipment in NASDAQ OMX’s data centre hosting the Nord Pool production servers. A pilot member has successfully trialled the service for a couple of weeks and it is now made available to existing and new members of Nord Pool.
As the leader in trading and data technology for the financial industry, NASDAQ OMX has developed a proximity service program that provides low latency connectivity to Nord Pool’s trading systems in a highly secure and access controlled data centre facility. In addition, all necessary power and air conditioning systems including redundant power generation and ventilation are included in the service. Remote technical support from NASDAQ OMX’s specially trained staff is also included.
“This service allows our members engaging in automated trading to benefit from a state-of-the-art proximity service,” says Erik Thrane, CEO of Nord Pool ASA.
Fredrik Voss, vice president carbon & business development at NASDAQ OMX Commodities added: “With more and more participants depending on low-latency solutions for their trading strategies, we are glad to be able to offer this reliable and secure service to Nord Pool members.”
