Thomson Reuters Point Carbon is delighted to announce that Vertis Environmental Finance, Macquarie Bank and Tricorona have won best broker, best trader and best project developer respectively at this year’s Carbon Market Awards. The awards are presented each year at Thomson Reuters Point Carbon’s annual carbon market conference, CMI, held this year from February 28-March 3 in Amsterdam. Thomson Reuters Point Carbon is the leading provider of market intelligence, news, analysis, forecasting and advisory services for the energy and environmental markets.
On accepting the award, Barna Barath CEO of Vertis Environmental Finance, said, "this represents important recognition from our clients and from market participants of our commitment to the carbon markets stretching back over 10 years. It's also a bit of good news in today's troubled market. We hope everyone can pull together to get the current problems resolved."
Voting is a completely open process with invitations to nominate sent to more than 1,000 Point Carbon subscribers. There is no short-list, enabling subscribers to choose their own candidates in the three categories.
“This award is given by the carbon community to companies within that community. Although organised by Thomson Reuters Point Carbon, it is truly an award given by peers to those companies excelling in their fields”, said Chantal Spit, Manager, Conferences at Thomson Reuters Point Carbon.
Commenting on the award for best trader, John Marlow of Macquarie Bank, said: “We’re very pleased to be recognised in this way. Emissions trading is an important part of our cross-commodity offering”.
Susanne Häfeli-Hestvik, Vice President and Director of the Technical Department at Tricorona, said, “we also have our dedicated team to thank for this award. Through their dedication and hard work we can boast that we have successfully registered 147 CDM projects."
