Ethanol is not the cause for rising food prices, says US study

Description: Production of ethanol from corn is not the cause for moderately-rising consumer food prices, concludes a U.S. study released by the Renewable Fuels Association. “Rising energy prices had a more significant impact on food prices than did corn,” says John Urbanchuk of LECG in an analysis of food, energy and corn prices. Rising energy prices have twice the impact on the Consumer Price Index for food than the price of corn.
